Characteristics and description of the test
PCR is a molecular technique to detect the genome of the virus. That is, when the virus infects a person, it enters the cells of the nasopharynx and begins to replicate. From a sample of the nasopharyngeal mucosal area we try to detect the RNA of the virus.
This complex and effective technique, which must be performed in the laboratory, allows to know if the person has had or has a coronavirus infection. And it can be detected both a few days before symptoms begin and long after they disappear.
